The Heart 2 Heart Charitable Festival comes to Great Britain again. You can expect an exciting cultural programme, workshop sessions, monastery treats, and, most importantly, good summertime mood and the joy of Christian encounters. St Elisabeth Convent (Minsk, Belarus) has organised several such events in Britain and Ireland already. Last spring, not only Londoners but also Dubliners had the opportunity to visit our Festival.
This time, there will be two Festival locations in London: The Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Great Britain on July 3 – 6, and St Sava Serbian Church on July 5 – 8.
The Festival organisers promise that the summer festival in 2018 will be no less diverse, filled with various happenings, meetings, workshop sessions, and other cultural events.
Every visitor will find something to his or her taste. Art lovers will be able to come to an exhibition and sale of icons painted by the icon painters of St Elisabeth Convent. The icons are either made according to ancient Byzantine traditions and canons using tempera paints or in the unique technique of painting with ground gemstones. Those who wish to learn more about the ancient art will be able to try painting icons themselves: workshop sessions where icon painters share the secrets of their craft are scheduled on Festival days.
This time, the guests will have the chance to learn more about painting on wooden toys, straw-plaiting, calligraphy, making Belarusian dolls, and weaving traditional Belarusian belts during workshop sessions on these subjects.
Hearty Evenings is a new format of our Festival meetings. The visitors will be immersed into the laid-back atmosphere of daily life in old-time Belarus. They will see funny plays and performances, taste delicious treats made in St Elisabeth Convent, including teas and herbal infusions brewed according to age-old monastery traditions. Moreover, they will have the chance to talk with the participants of the Festival informally. Traditional Belarusian Dress will also be demonstrated during the Hearty Evenings.
Not only adults but children, too, will enjoy the Festival. We have prepared a special programme for children.
